KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 8 (Nov. 12)

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its eighth week of action for the 2023-24 regular season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on winning percentage and their performance over the past 10 games.

 

Sicamous Eagles
Last Week: 1
Record: 15-2-1

 

The Eagles earned a 4-2 win against Revelstoke, and 3-1 against Osoyoos, then lost 3-2 in overtime to Creston Valley. Their power-play went 2-for-20 and their penalty-kill was 16-for-17. Their power-play is at 20.2 per cent, and the PK at 90.3 per cent for the season.

 

Revelstoke Grizzlies

Record: 11-4-0

 

The Grizzlies lost to Sicamous 4-2 and defeated Creston Valley 7-3. Their power-play went 1-for-7, while the penalty-kill was 9-for-9. The Grizzlies PP executes at 18.2 per cent, while the PK is the best in the league at 95.7 per cent. They’ve allowed three goals on 70 opportunities.

 

Princeton Posse
Last Week: 3
Record: 12-3-0

 

The Posse won their lone game last week, a 4-2 win over Kelowna. Their power-play went 2-for-10, while the penalty-kill was 4-for-4. Princeton has the fifth best PP at 21.4 per cent, and their PK is sixth best at 86.7 per cent.

 

Kamloops Storm

Record: 12-4-0

 

The Storm won both their games, defeating Osoyoos 7-1 and Chase 3-0. Their power-play went 1-for-7, while the penalty-kill was 5-for-5. The Storm’s power-play for the season is at 14.1 per cent, while their penalty-kill is fifth best at 87.7 per cent.

 

Grand Forks Border Bruins

Record: 9-5-1-2

 

The Border Bruins opened their week with a 3-2 overtime loss to Castlegar, then defeated Beaver Valley 7-4 and Nelson 5-1. Their power-play went 5-for-15 and the penalty-kill was 11-for-13. The Border Bruins have the third best power-play in the league at 22.9 per cent, and their penalty-kill is 15th at 78.6 per cent.
