KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 22 (Feb. 18/24)

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its 22nd and final week of action for the 2023-24 regular season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on their performance over the past 10 games, including winning percentage.

 

Princeton Posse
Last Week: 3
Record: 35-8-0-1

The Posse closed out the regular season with a 5-0 win against the North Okanagan Knights and a 9-1 win versus the Summerland Steam. They are back-to-back President’s Cup winners as the KIJHL regular season champion. In the two games, the power-play combined to go 3-for-13, while the penalty-kill went 6-for-6. The Posse’s power-play finished ranked seventh at 20.4 per cent (52-for-255). The penalty-kill third best at 86.3 per cent (29-for-211).

 

Revelstoke Grizzlies
Last Week: 5
Record: 34-8-1-1

The Grizzlies finished the season with a 2-1 win over Sicamous, then lost 5-4 in a shootout. In the two games combined, the power-play went 4-for-11, while the penalty-kill went 10-for-13. The Grizzlies power-play finished fifth best at 22.6 per cent (53-for-234) and the penalty-kill No. 1 at 90.7 per cent (21-for-225).

 

Beaver Valley Nitehawks

Record: 32-9-0-3

The Nitehawks ended their season with a pair of losses – a 4-3 shootout defeat to Grand Forks and 6-1 to Nelson. The loss to Nelson snapped their undefeated run in regulation time at 19 games. In the two games combined, the power-play went 1-for-10 and the penalty-kill went 5-for-9. The Nitehawks finished with the second best power-play at 24.6 per cent (48-for-195) and the eighth best penalty-kill at 83.9 per cent (33-for-205).

 

Kamloops Storm
Last Week: Not ranked
Record: 31-11-1-1

The Storm earned a 9-3 win over Summerland, then lost 2-1 in overtime to 100 Mile House. In the two games combined, the power-play went 1-for-5, while the penalty-kill went 5-for-7. The Storm finished with the ninth best power-play at 17.8 per cent (38-for-214), while the penalty-kill finished fifth best at 86.1 per cent (25-for-180).

 

Grand Forks Border Bruins

Record: 28-11-3-2

The Border Bruins finished the regular season with a 4-3 shootout victory over Beaver Valley, and a 4-3 overtime win against Castlegar. In the two games, the power-play went 1-for-9, while the penalty-kill went 7-for-7. The Border Bruins finished with the third best power-play at 24.1 per cent (49-for-203), while the penalty-kill finished ninth at 82.1 per cent (35-for-196).
