KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 17 (Jan. 14/24)

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its 17th week of action for the 2023-24 regular season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on their performance over the past 10 games, including winning percentage.

 

Revelstoke Grizzlies
Last Week: 1
Record: 25-6-0

The Grizzlies defeated the Summerland Steam 5-1, scoring once on seven power-plays, while the penalty-kill went 3-for-4. They earned a 7-0 win over the 100 Mile House Wranglers. The power-play went 0-for-3 and the PK was 4-for-4.

 

Beaver Valley Nitehawks
Last Week: 4
Record: 23-8-0-1

The Nitehawks began their week with a 14-1 win over the Spokane Braves, with four of their goals coming on six power-plays. The penalty-kill went 4-for-5. In a 5-2 win over the Kimberley Dynamiters, their power-play went 3-for-5, while the penalty-kill was 4-for-5.

 

Sicamous Eagles

Record: 26-5-1

The Eagles defeated the Wranglers 5-2, scoring once on five power-plays and the penalty-kill went 5-for-6. In an 8-1 win against the Steam, the Eagles again scored once on five power-plays, while the PK went 3-for-4.

 

Fernie Ghostriders

Record: 23-8-2-1

The Ghostriders won their three games last week, beginning with a 5-3 victory in Creston Valley. Their power-play scored once on three chances, while the penalty-kill was 2-for-2. In a 4-2 win over Columbia Valley, they scored once on four power-play chances, while the PK was perfect again – this time 4-for-4. Their third win came 6-2 against Castlegar with the power-play scoring once again, this time on three chances. The penalty-kill was 5-for-6.

 

Grand Forks Border Bruins

Record: 21-9-2-2

The Border Bruins defeated the Golden Rockets 7-3 scoring once on three power-plays. The penalty-kill was perfect – 5-for-5. They lost 5-4 in overtime to the Spokane Braves, with half their goals coming on four power-play chances. The PK went 1-for-2.
