Chakrabarti, Fleming & Shebansky named February 3 Stars

 

Luke Chakrabarti (Creston Valley Thunder Cats), Colton Fleming (North Okanagan Knights) and Ethan Shebansky (Grand Forks Border Bruins) have been selected as the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Month for February.

Chakrabarti – Top Forward – The Surrey product had nine goals and 10 assists in nine gamesΒ  for the Thunder Cats (five regular season and four Teck Cup playoffs). In the five regular season games, Chakrabarti had 14 points, including a seven-point performance against the Spokane Braves. In the first four games of their series against the Fernie Ghostriders, Chakrabarti collected two goals and three assists. He had a goal and assisted on the OT winner in their 3-2 win in Game 1. In their 6-5 overtime loss, Chakrabarti scored the opening goal and added an assist. In their five-game series, Chakrabarti finished with three goals and six points. Chakrabarti was also named the Top Forward for January.

Fleming – Top Defenceman – The Salmon Arm product collected 13 assists in nine games for the Knights (five regular season and four Teck Cup playoffs). Fleming had eight assists in the five regular season games and five in their sweep of the Osoyoos Coyotes. He collected two assists in Game 2, one on the opening goal and the other on the insurance marker by Nolan Kelly giving the Knights a 3-1 lead en route to a 5-1 win. In the series clinching game, Fleming assisted on Luke Rishaug’s winning goal. Fleming had a plus-nine rating, including a plus-four in the playoffs. He also blocked eight shots, as per Hudl Instat data. Fleming led the Knights blueline with 30 points in 36 regular season games.

Shebansky – Top Goalie – The Edmonton, Alta., product won his final two regular season starts against the Castlegar Rebels and Beaver Valley Nitehawks, stopping 64 of 68 shots combined. He won three of the four games in their series against the Nelson Leafs, and made 75 combined saves on 79 shots in Games 3 and 4. In his six games, Shebansky won five, stopping 204 of 216 shots for a 1.80 goals against average and a .944 save percentage. He finished the regular season with a 16-8-0 record, and a 2.87 GAA with a .925 SP.Β
