The Grand Forks Border Bruins are Kootenay International Junior Hockey League President’s Cup winners. Their first in franchise history.
The Border Bruins captured the league regular season championship by collecting a single point, for 71 on the season, in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks. Their regular season record is 33 wins, six losses, four overtime losses and one shootout loss in 44 games.
“It is a really nice feather in the hat – our focus was our division and this is a cherry on top,” said Border Bruins head coach-general manager Dave Hnatiuk. “We will continue to have our sights set on a long playoff run and get back to work on Monday.”
Border Bruin Keenan Holland scored his 27th of the season, while Ashton Schram forced the game into OT with his eighth of the season. Jasper Tait made 29 saves.
